Another Massachusetts initiative is making its way to the ballot this Fall, and it involves a petition to lower the state's income tax from 5% to 4%. What are the pros and cons of this proposal? Those in favor of the initiative say it will put $1,300 (on average) back in the pockets of working families across the Commonwealth, while those who oppose the initiative fear that by reducing the state tax revenue, it would force cuts to local aid and public services and cause teachers, police officers, and firefighters to be laid off.
